Wellness Day in Budapest

Budapest is often called the „spa capital of the world” and rightly so, as it is the city with the most thermal and medicinal water reservoirs worldwide. Did you know that the thermal waters of Budapest were already used by the Romans? Centuries of experience have brought the local spa and wellness treatments to the point of perfection. Apart from its thermal baths, Budapest has many day spas and fitness & wellness centers as well – places that every health-conscious visitor must visit on a longer stay. In this article, I’ll tell you all about my perfectly pampering day in Budapest.

A yoga class at Oxygén Wellness Fáy

A morning yoga session is a wonderful way to start your day. John and I started doing yoga a couple of years ago to ease our back pain, and I can’t imagine my life without it. This morning I attended an Aerial yoga class at the Oxigen Wellness Fáy center. I’ve never tried this type of yoga before, but a very kind and attentive trainer showed me the ropes, and I have to say, I enjoyed every minute of it.  We used a kind of hammock to do the exercises and paid particular emphasis to reverse postures. I find aerial yoga an amazing way to stretch the spinal muscles and refresh the body and soul. But that’s not the only type of yoga class they have.

The good thing about Oxigen Wellness Fáy is that they have so many different body movement classes. You can choose from various yoga, body shaping and fat burning sessions, body art, kickbox, spinning, TRX and WALKenergie, and find the type of sport that suits you the most. Or, if you don’t enjoy exercising in a group, you can also hire a personal trainer. Anyway, after my yoga class, I went straight to the sauna, then relaxed for a bit in the Jacuzzi. I always appreciate a gym with a well-equipped wellness area, and in this respect, Oxigen Wellness Fáy is one of the best I’ve ever been to. I could spend a whole day just relaxing there, but I had more nice things on my list. So, after recharging my batteries, I headed to my favorite hairdresser.

A haircut at Close to You

Haircuts can be tricky things. If you are like me and refuse to get your hair even touched in a foreign city until you feel you are in the safe hands of a professional hairdresser, then the Close to You hair salon is the right place for you. Close to You has three salons in Budapest. I go to their salon in Pest, but all their salons are first class. And when I mean first class, I mean beautiful interiors with the latest hair care equipment and hairdressers who know what they are doing. Close to You offers high-quality services and thrives for maximality in every aspect.

If you check out their references on their English language webpage, you’ll see that various movie productions and glossy women’s magazines are among their regular clients. Closes also pay attention to sustainability and uses biodegradable plastics and natural ingredients. This is very important to me as I’m all for environmental protection and also a vegan. But I saved the best for last. You would probably think that you can’t afford to get a haircut at such a luxurious salon, but you’re quite mistaken. While I’m getting star treatment and my hair looks great every time, their prices are still totally affordable and not much higher than you would pay at any ordinary salon in Budapest.

Facial treatment and Hot Lava Stone Massage at Rituale Beauty Spa

After a light lunch, I headed to my favorite Budapest spa near the Great Market Hall. What I love about Rituale Beauty and Spa is the calming atmosphere that awaits me. The place has a special vibe, the energies are almost mesmerizing. It’s like stepping into a relaxing oasis in the middle of a busy city. They offer more than thirty different treatments and services, among them various wonderful facial, neck, and cleavage treatments, manicure and pedicure, eyebrow and eyelash treatments, and many different massages, so you can be sure you’ll find the best way to revitalize your body and soul.

This time I chose the Adrienne Feller rejuvenating herbal ritual facial treatment lasting 60 minutes. The Adrienne Feller cosmetics are award-winning, Hungarian, 100% natural cosmetics. The treatment felt soothing and very relaxing, and it not only refreshed my skin but recharged it with vitamins and nutrients. I looked so pretty afterward that my dear husband John fell in love with me all over again when he saw me. Naturally, I had to buy an Adrienne Feller facial cream to take home with me after that.

Finally, I tried their legendary hot lava stone massage, and oh my, was I glad I did!

I heard good things about this technique, and one of my friends suggested I try it for my back pain. It turns out these hot stones work miracles for tired, strained muscles. They laid me down on a massage table and placed the hot lava stones on my back, which instantly started to take effect. My tight back muscles suddenly loosened up, and I felt the warmth of the stones spread through my body, putting me in a deep, relaxed state. Once calm and relaxed, my masseuse started working on my back. With slow and relaxing movements, I felt the pain slowly evaporating, leaving nothing behind but a calm, rejuvenated me.

It was the perfect ending to an empowering and energizing day, something I cannot recommend enough to all you overworked ladies (and gents, of course) visiting Budapest!
