One of the most emblematic landmarks of Budapest, the Buda Castle Palace has been home to the Hungarian kings since the 13th century. Today it functions as a complex, modern cultural institution, giving home to the Hungarian National Gallery, the National Library and the Budapest History Museum. As part of the Buda Castle District, it belongs to Budapest's World Heritage Sites since 1987.
