The second-best known church of Budapest behind the St. Stephen’s Basilica takes its name after King Matthias Corvinus the Fair, the most beloved king of the Hungarians and a mythical hero of Hungarian folktales. The church is officially called the Parish Church of Our Lady. It was used as a coronation church by kings for centuries and was restored to its current form in Neo-gothic style in the early 19th century by Frigyes Schulek.
