The 19th century military fortress located on top of Gellért Hill was built in 1854 by the Habsburgs to protect the city. Today, it’s an emblematic landmark and UNESCO World Heritage Site with some of the most stunning views of Budapest and the River Danube. It also gives home to the Statue of Liberty and a small WWII Museum.
